Seminar with Louai Abu Aljoud

Centre for Resolution of International Conflicts (CRIC) and Social Sciences Across Borders invite you to attend a seminar with Syrian journalist Louai Abu Aljoud.

Louai Abu Aljoud has covered the battles in Aleppo from the opposition side and has been closely linked with the Free Syrian Army (FSA). He has worked with Al-Arabiya network as a reporter, getting injured twice and being arrested by the Syrian regime.

On November 28, 2013, he was kidnapped by ISIS in Aleppo and remained imprisoned for 6 months. He was in prison with the American journalist James Foley and the Danish journalist Daniel Rye Ottosen. Louai was released from ISIS's prison through a prisoner exchange between the FSA and ISIS. Louai was invited to come to Europe by the French foreign ministry.

Louai will give a talk on the Syrian conflict, sharing his first-hand insights on ISIS and the situation on the ground in Syria. There will be ample time for questions and debate.

Language
Louai will speak Arabic, but everything will be translated into English by an experienced translator.
