The Syria Peace Process and Women Mediators’ Networks  - the inclusion of women in peace and mediation

Public Event on the occasion of the NWMN Annual Meeting in Copenhagen

The event draws on personal experiences from a number of prominent Syrian and Nordic female peace mediators.

It will focus on the value provided by women in peace processes in pursuit of sustainable peace and post-conflict reconstruction - while discussing women’s meaningful inclusion in ongoing peace processes throughout the world.

Mariam Jalabi, Co-founder of the Syrian Women’s Political Movement

Maria Al Abdeh, Executive Director of Women Now for Development

Sabiha Khalil, feminist advocate and political activist

Birgitta Holst Alani, Swedish Ambassador/former adviser to the UN Special Envoy on Syria

Karin Aggestam, Professor of Political Science, University of Lund and visiting research professor at Monash University, Melbourne

The programme will be moderated by Lisbeth Pilegaard, NWMN member
