Greenland in Arctic Security Book Launch
On 7 March 2024, Forsvarskademiet (FAK), Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS), and the University of Copenhagen held a book launch for the book Greenland in Artic Security: (De)securitization Dynamics under Climate Thaw and Geopolitical Freeze. The event was held at Svanemøllens Kaserne with 120 people joining in the lecture hall and 50 more joining online. The event included presentations from Sara Olsvig, Ulrik Pram Gad, Lin Alexandra Mortensgaard, Patrik Stig Andersson, and Ole Wæver.
Greenland in Artic Security: (De)securitization Dynamics under Climate Thaw and Geopolitical Freeze investigates security dynamics in the Artic and how problems in and in relation to Greenland are elevated to become questions about security. Each chapter investigates specific security discourses and dynamics, such as the great powers' interests in the Artic, climate change, and internal debates on Greenland identity. The book is edited by Marc Jakobsen, Ulrik Pram Gad, and Ole Wæver.
